Sony Nex-C3 launching at Mega Avit, Karamunsing

Some great news (bad news for the wallet apparently) for Sony camera users came early this month. The Nex-series have been updated with the C3, 5N and the top of the line Nex-7. Not forgetting the DSLT of A65 and A77, the much-awaited successor for A700 which I owned previously.

When the Nex-C3 arrived, Mega Avit organised a soft-launching ceremony and they have invited our Facebook group, Sony Alpha Kaki Photo members to join. With good food being provided, it was a fun, yet poisonous affair for everyone that attended.

Prior to the ceremony, Phil from Mega Avit had requested me to take some sample shots using the C3 in and around Karamunsing complex, before being printed by Proart to be shown during the event.. Being a Nex-3 user myself, I took the opportunity to test my cam's successor. The slightly bigger grip on the C3 is a much-welcome feature. It rest nicely in my hands. I'm not going to talk a lot about the technical stuffs as you can find a lot of them in the net. One thing for sure, the Nex-series with Voigtlander lenses are damn poisonous.

With the Voigtlander lens. Bokeh produced was awesome!

One of the five photos that I took that was printed.

Gotta love the under-rated 16mm pancake.

KK Adventure Park

This afternoon, my colleague and I went to this place to see our students having their school activities there. It is located at Km 26.5, Kpg. Beringgis, Papar new road. This place offers leisure and challenging activities, good for team spirit building or family day plans. The best part is that it is situated overlooking the South China Sea with clean beaches. If I had joined the school activity, I would love to dip in the sea while waiting for sunsets.

Miri Marriott Resort and Spa - 2nd part

That night, due to the 'comfortness' of the pillows and bed, I woke up quite late. I went out to the balcony to feel the fresh air.

Good morning Miri!

This was taken from my room's balcony. A beautiful sight to start the day.

Without wasting much time, both of us got prepared and walk around the hotel's compound.

Gym. It's open literally 24 hours!

Walk up to the lobby area.

This is the pool that is located facing the sea.

Walk down the stairs to reach the cafe.

Breakfast is really important, so for my second trip I opt the a room with breakfast provided. However, walk-in guest would have to pay RM42.00 ++.

What a relaxing sight!

Asian cuisine section where nasi lemak and frieds stuffs were served.

Fruits and salads.

A view of the dining area.

Once again some nice selection of teas were served, plus freshly brewed choices of coffees.

Does the breakfast worth the price paid? You bet! I had quite a handful of western breakfast dishes and all taste great!

Miri Marriott Resort and Spa - 1st part

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011!!!!!!!! I had a slow new year, just browsing the net last night as I don't feel like going out. Besides, it's raining and I'm still tired after driving back to KK from Kch.

When I went back to my hometown in the middle of December, I have been busy preparing for my wedding party on the 27th. I did the wedding reception at my wife's hometown at the end of last year, and it's due time to do another one for my folks in Bau. It was fun, a closed functions between family members.

Christmas was nice too. We had more guests this year and it's a good thing cos we won't be having much food leftovers at the end of the day.

Anyway, I would like to share my experiences spending two nights in a 5-star resort, all thanks to my friend Joshua. Miri Marriott Resort and Spa is situated about 2 kilometres from Miri town. The resort is located facing the South China Sea and at night, you can feel the cold sea breeze and listen to the waves. For me, those are nice additions to a good night's sleep.

Hello Marriott!

My friend gave me room 1620. It's a Deluxe Garden Room. It's at the corner, facing the garden and the sea. Let's see what's inside!

Aaaahhhh!

I entered the bathroom...

I'm amazed with the cleanliness. Even the tiles are not spared.

Mint-inspired toiletries.

Snack and coffee/tea bar.

The things below are free, on the top... :)

The hotel management provides more than just regular tea. Green Tea with Jasmine is my favourite.

The most important thing in the room. As stated in their website 'Luxury bedding featuring fluffier pillows, cotton-rich sheets and soft comforters'. How comfortable is it? Just say that I woke up much, much later than I should have.

39" yo! A lot better than some big hotels that I've stayed but still clinging on with CRT TV's. Bring along your gaming system or DVD player.

Study/work table.

Two swans sculptured from towels.

Another view.

This is what you get next to the bed. The Sony alarm clock is a nice addition IMHO. I do think there should be a user manual provided as I took more than 15 minutes to figure out how to set the clock and alarm.

Wired internet connection is provided, with a fee by the way. It's not that cheap, but, according to my friend, DOCOMO supplied the service and it's way better than our own.

Breakfast menu list.

The softness of the pillows and the comfort of the bed still lingers in my mind...Wish I have those at home.
