The Upside-Down house (rumah terbalik) of Tamparuli, Sabah

It has been in the news just recently, whereby the first upside-down house in Malaysia was built in Sabah. It was reported that the owner spent almost half a million for this.

My wife and I were on our way to Tamparuli when she suggested that we visit that place. Little did we expect that it was just beside the roadside if you're going to Mt. Kinabalu, just before the Shell station. There were a big number of people were already there when we arrived.

There's even an upside-down Perodua Kancil in the garage!

Ticket costs RM10 for Malaysian adults. You need to produce you IC though. Normal price is RM18 for adults and RM5 for kids.

Then you queue before getting into the house.

There's a short briefing session about this place before entering the house.

Before you enter the door, there's one small problem though. You can't take a single photo inside or a fine of RM100 will be imposed. From what I saw, it was good. The washing machine, the aircon, tables and house furnitures were upside down but personally, I do think there's lack of home 'decors' to make is as homely as possible.

There's a small souvenir shop located just after the house.

There's a cafeteria as well.

Nana photoshoot - Tamparuli and Kibunut

Starting this month of October, our FB Sony Alpha Kaki Photo group will be having weekly model shooting, thanks to our friend Jane who provided the most talent. This particular session with Nana, was done early last month as requested by a good friend Joshua. He came from Miri, bringing with him some ethnic costume but the most prominent is the sape (a Sarawak traditional musical instrument). Nana even rented her traditional costume which was adorned with beautiful coloured-beads.

That morning we shot sunrise at Mengkabong bridge before going to Tamparuli for the first part of the shooting session. Tamparuli is famous for its hanging bridge and we found one just by the roadside (albeit a modern one).

After that, we proceed to Kibunut waterfall along Penampang-Tambunan road. It is a popular spot for picnicking. We used reflectors a lot here.

As usual, group photo of those who came.

Kiulu White Water Rafting

As stated in my post yesterday, my friends and I went to Kiulu in Tamparuli to watch water rafting activities. It's a popular tourist spot and it showed today as I saw a lot of them turned up here. We managed to talk to one of the operators and he can give us RM65(which includes meal) per person if we can gather more than seven participants. Sweet! Another event for my fellow camera friends and I very, very soon.

The river is classified as Grade 1 and 2, which is shallow, slow moving river with rocks. Safe enough for children and elderly folks. A more adventurous rafting experience can be obtained at Padas.

Brief instructions were given before heading out to the rapids.

Let's go!

You can try the swinging, hanging bridge which is a lot here.

I was surprised to see small kids joined in. Some are as young as five years old.

The 'ritual' before rafting.

We drove and stopped at a spot to catch some actions.

Another hanging bridge.

Hey hey! Thanks for the pose. I guess they thought that I'm on of the assigned photographer as some raft operators will provide photographers at strategic locations.

One before going back! Joseph and Dzul.
