Christmas is just around the corner, and right now I'm posting this from my hometown, Bau. It feels so good to be back home, with good, tasty and most importantly cheap food awaiting to be ordered.
Today's post is about the last talent photoshoot for this year. We planned to have it at the Grafitti place near Suria, but the bad weather forced us to have it at Habiba. Again, a nice place to have this session. Our talent is Farlynce.

2011 DBKK Kaamatan Festival - Sony Alpha Challenge

It's May, and the annual cultural event, Kaamatan is just around the corner. And on the 12 May, Sony Malaysia collaborated with Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) for the Kaamatan Festival held at Lintasan Deasoka, Kota Kinabalu. For this event, Sony organised a photo challenge of its Alpha camera users, whereby DBKK has provided some media pass for us to use.
I am one from a bunch of friends who registered for the event. Part of the excitement came from the prize offered to the best photo. It is a Sony DVD player and top 5 finalist will get Sony premium gifts.

Rungus traditional costume.
So much composure...
This is one of the few photos I submitted and it was selected to be one of the finalist!
The prize-giving ceremony was held at Karamunsing complex last Sunday, in conjunction with the Sony carnival. I didn't get the DVD player though, but received a nice, big umbrella and this book.
It featured photos from a photo contest with the 'soccer' theme in mind in conjunction with the 2010 Fifa World cup.
This aside...I just received a good news which lifted up my enthusiasm in photography. A travel magazine based in Brunei are interested in some of my photos and currently I'm editing the photos before submitting those to them. I can say that their offer is just nice for an amateur like me. :D

Tip of Borneo / Simpang Mengayau
A trip to Kudat would not be complete without a visit to the Tip of Borneo /Simpang Mengayau. It is located about 20 minutes drive from Kudat town. My last visit was about two years ago, and now I can see new chalets being built there. This place can be developed into a nice resort area because of its lush surroundings and blue sea waters.
Apart from that, I can see new resting / picnicking huts built along the beach, with big space for camping and barbecuing. Toilets and fresh tap water can be obtain at a nearby restaurant located within walking distance from the beach.

A panoramic overview of the beach and the sea.

The pathway to the rocks below.

The rocks below. Advisable to go during low tide.

The cars that participated in this trip.
Then we had a bbq session at the beach.

Freshly bbq-ed corns with butter, YUMMY!

I tried my friend's beercan here. Result was very good. Everything was on f4. :D

Don't forget to catch the sunrise here, one of the best I've ever seen. But, I did not take any though. Why?

I'm tired of sunrise lol! Better to sweat and be healthy. Wifey took this hence the different watermark.
