For fame and glory - 4th day

The second day of the sports meet ended with our school getting three gold medals and some silver and bronze. Tony once again won the 400 meters and broke the record as well. Michael, who disappoint us by not winning the long jump, came back to win the triple jump event. And Jeffendy, won his favourite discus event for the under-18 category.

He was exhausted by the heat, sat down but still raised his hand when the oath was read.

For fame and glory - 3rd day

Today we anticipated a few golds from our students, but it didn't turn out as expected. At the end of the day, we got just a gold from our golden boy Tony Lucas, two silver and three bronze. Tony broke the record 10-year old 100 meters record as well.

All shots were taken on A-mode, which I seldom use beforehand. ISO was set on 500 all day with the Tammy mounted.

All of us hoped that tomorrow will be better with good medal hauls. As we're the smallest contingent every year, we hoped to produce quality than quantity athletes.

For fame and glory - 2nd day

Our second day here starts with a simple jog by the students at 5 am, continued by training on their respective events. By 6.30 am the stadium was already packed with athletes from other schools. So all of us head back to our rooms and rest.

As the real competition will start tomorrow, we instructed the students to do some light training in the evening. They were delighted when we allowed them to go to the swimming pool to relax after that.

Some of them just hang out at the playground, so I grab my cam and do some candid portraits.

For fame and glory

I'm currently in Limbang for the annual Limbang Division Inter-School Sports Meet. This year we're bringing 40 athletes to compete in various events. As usual I'll be in charge for the field events and photography services. Last year I used the SAL 75-300mm kit lens, but this year will be using the Tammy 70-200. I do hope I won't miss the extra 100mm.

My new shoes!

Recently, my wife gave me a new pair of shoes for Valentine's day. Woohoo! Thanks wifey! When I first saw the shoes, it was love at first sight. The fabric part of it blends nicely with the rubber sole. And it looked kind of retro-looking for a pair of futsal shoes. Oh, it's a Puma by the way. Puma Futsala IV.



Anyway, I'm not good in futsal or street soccer, or even football. I can't even dribble properly. But that didn't stop me to get another pair. Previously, I wore my Adidas badminton cum indoor cum volleyball shoes and the New Balance trainer. This particular Puma however, I could use it as a walk-around shoe.

The upper is made of suede and lightweight, breathable mesh, creating stability and comfort during fast indoor soccer action . For added durability, the toe has a molded rubber reinforcement. Hmm...no wonder I moved quicker nowadays. Hahaha.

I got the black-coloured one. There's another in white but it can get pretty dirty easily. Sadly that's the only two colour options that they have at Parkson 1 Borneo. There's a few more colour variants on the net.

Oh ya, up till now I lost four kilograms of weight. I really hope it will dip below the 90 kg mark before this coming week.

KKIP portraiture at an abandoned warehouse

Last Saturday we had another portrait shoot. As our model asked her car to be included in it, we decided to have the session at an abandoned warehouse. It is located at Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park. As I entered that place, saw a few fireman still trying to contain the smoke from Saturday's fire which I blog about in the previous post.

After setting up everything, I mount my cam with Shukrie's 11-18mm lens. We had four flashes to play with this time. Our models are Epong and Ann, two friendly and energetic people together with Epong's car, Myvi.










For this shot, we used a polystyrene foam to bounce a f42 to light up the faces, one at the feet, and another one fired 45 degrees down from the left side.

Coincidentally, my friend Shukrie just got a call from the post office telling him that his parcel has arrived from KL. What's inside? His A100 after being converted into an IR machine.


The 'grandpapa' of Alpha cameras get rejuvenated. The cost for converting was RM500. I can tell that it's worth every ringgit.
