Our Singapore trip - Universal Studios Pt. 2

This post shows some of the famous characters you can meet and greet at Universal Studios. Wifey and I literally walk around the park three times just to catch almost all of them.

Our Singapore trip - Universal Studios Pt. 1

This was the place that triggered our interest to visit Singapore. Being movie-oriented, my wife was excited to meet and greet some of the famous characters there. That morning, we woke up early(I couldn't sleep well by the way) and took MRT to Vivocity which is currently Singapore's biggest shopping mall. For a fare of SGD2, we took the Resort World Sentosa bus to reach the Studio.

I would recommend to get the Universal Studios' tickets online though. The Studio opens at 10 am, and when we got there, the entrance was already full with visitors lining up to get in. Having the tickets early will save you lots of time and possibly faster entrance to the rides and shows inside. Paying SGD66 for the ticket is not that cheap, but where and when can you get back to the kid in you? I know almost everyone in the studio was being one that day. Anyway, you will be given SGD5 voucher for meals and another SGD5 for buying souvenirs.

To get back to Vivocity, you can hop into the free MRT coach provided by the Resort itself which serves the studio, Imbiah and Vivocity.

Our Singapore trip - Hotel 81 Fragrance

I booked my tickets and accommodation through AirAsia's Go, and I paid more than Rm1.3k for 4 days, 3 nights. As I'm not familiar with Singapore yet, I picked a reasonably priced hotel and within walking distance to MRT.

The hotel is situated at Lorong 12, Geylang which is quite famous for a different reason. :D But restaurants are abundant here, so keeping your tummy full will be easy. The nearest MRT is Aljuneid, about 15-20 minutes walk. Quite far, but we can see lots of things around Geylang on our way to the MRT and back. The room itself is not that spacious, but it comes equipped with basic necessities to make your stay enjoyable.
















Coffee/tea making facility and hair dryer are available. Sadly no wifi nor internet access but there's internet service within the hotel's vicinity.


Small but functional LCD tv. The hotel provides DVD player too.


Bathtub to soothe your tired legs after a day's walk.







For our trip next year, we plan to stay around Bugis. There's the Bugis market which houses nice souvenier shops and I do hope to visit its flea market. This time, I'll come prepared with extra cash as there's quite some things you can buy in Singapore which is either not available or expensive in Malaysia.

I'm at home now, after a tiring but totally fun and exciting trip to Singapore. From the trip to Universal Studios, right to the Bugis market, we literally walked till our legs can't take it anymore. Gonna blog about it soon. For now, just a few photos to share. Cheers!

3D imaging

It's one of the latest technology available nowadays. From TV sets right down to compact cams. My Nex have 3D sweep panorama, which, I'm only able to see it from a 3D enabled tv and the special glasses. However, it has been outperform by Sony's new Cybershots, the TX-9 and WX-5. Both have 3D capabilities, but the best part is, you can view its effects right on the camera's LCD screen. Just tilt camera left and right like a seesaw. Check out youtube if you want to see that.

Watching is nice, but wearing it is another thing, especially if you wear spectacles. It kept slipping down my nose that I have to tilt my head backwards a bit.

Then, 3D movies came. Luckily GSC at Suria Sabah offered 3D movies, and I went there this evening to catch my first 3D movie, Step Up. The storyline was ok, but I was more interested in the effects. It was cool! Uber cool! I wonder how Avatar 3D would fare. I saw Avatar being played in blue-ray format and LED TV, and that was already awesome to watch.

Enough of 3D, I'm gonna see Shrek, Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe in real life soon. Yes, tomorrow's the day that I'm going to Singapore! And the thing that eventually made me buy the airplane tickets is Universal Studios, which I'm going to visit on Monday. Hopefully SGD66 ticket is worth spending. And there's the Marina Bay and Singapore Flyer which I intend to visit too. I was worried about my camera's memory card that I bought a new one.
