My childhood craze

This is what I wanted when I was a teenager, but the price tag was a turn-off. Just a few could afford it. It was cool back then, and still looks cool now. Reebok Pump was introduced in the 90's, whereby the mechanism inflates the tongue of the shoe to make the perfect fit.

After 17 years of dreaming, I finally have one and boy it looks great, and feels great too. I bought it from an oversea seller, as Pump is kind of extinct here. Got the Boulevard Bringback Edition. This is the most expensive shoe I had bought, but I think all the money are well spent. I had numerous stares wherever I go with it, and some did asked if it's a real Pump. Guess there are dreamers like me too.

However, wish I can get this one though, nice colours and also a Puma Disc. :) Anybody have one for sale?

My 'new' used lens

It's a Minolta Maxxum AF 35-80mm 4-5.6 which I bought with a very nice price. I read that Minolta lenses are good and produced sharp images compared to Sony normal lenses(cannot compare with the G models and Carl Zeiss). Fyi, Minolta lenses can be used with Sony Alpha DSLR as they share the same a-mount, which is a blessing as I can get some legendary Konica Minolta lenses later. My wishlist now, KM 'beercan' and 50mm f1.7 prime lens!

First few photos...

I'm still trying to get used to DSLR settings, with most of my photos are on the manual mode. Having the twin kit really helps a lot, even though I was told that the Sony 75300 is a slow focuser than other lenses. Nevertheless, here are some of the photos I took.

Saw this humongous ship in KK port last week, the biggest I have seen so far. It's called Diamond Princess.

So I zoomed in.

Now I realized that's there's a lot of room's verandas at the side of the ship, kind of what you see at big hotels. I can even see the chairs and tables outside each room. One can't imagine how many people it can accommodate at a time.

Look at those 'nostrils'! I wonder how many horsepower does the ship have. Both photos are taken at 300mm. Luckily it turned out allright.

My new kit!

Finally! After years of endless frustrations in getting nice photos, I got myself a DLSR. My previous camera was a Canon Ixus 860IS and the 'old school' Yahica FX-3 Super SLR. Both cameras have served me well, but their limitations persuaded me to dig deep into my wallet and upgrade. Besides, few of my friends keep on poisoning me with their own superb photos which leave me in envy. So, I got myself a Sony A200W, the twin lens package. With a budget of just a bit over RM2k, I had only three choices. The Sony, Nikon D60 and the Canon 1000D. Why Sony? The twin lens package really tempting, and I'm sure I won't have the extra ringgit to upgrade the lenses. It comes with the 18-70mm and 75-300mm lenses, more that enough for a newbie like me. Now, time to make my friends envy!

What in the name

Hi all. I'm new to this blog thing. Just want to compliment my photos in flickr, a medium for me to elaborate more on what I see through the camera. What's in the name TUBIK? Tubik means rice in Bidayuh language, and I'm a Bidayuh from Bau, Sarawak. Enough said, let the photos do the talking. I'm hungry, anyone care to treat me for a meal? :D Cheers!
